The beautiful love story of Sofia and James unfolds in Thessaloniki through a summer wedding filled with romance and thoughtful personal touches, with Aesthetic Soiree designing a setting that effortlessly blends a soft white palette with timeless Greek beauty. Their journey began in Porto, where James planned the most heartfelt proposal at the charming seaside chapel Capela do Senhor da Pedra, perched on the rocks of the Atlantic and continues here with a wedding rich in meaning and romantic details. Outside the church, amphorae and traditional clay pots adorned with roses, hydrangeas, lisianthus and olive branches in delicate white hues created a graceful welcome, while the bride’s bouquet of white roses and olive leaves completed the look beautifully. At the reception entrance, a unique letter wall featuring handwritten notes from the couple greeted guests in such a personal and heartfelt way, while traditional Greek loukoumi favors added an authentic touch that everyone truly enjoyed. The couple also prepared a small booklet explaining the symbolism and stages of the Orthodox ceremony, inviting their guests to feel genuinely connected to the experience. Sofia shared with us, «I visited the greek site of Love4Weddings website several times while planning our wedding. I mostly turned to it when I was trying to gather ideas and inspiration for the style and decoration, until I could clearly understand what we truly wanted. Through the articles and real weddings featured on the site, I was able to explore different concepts, decoration details and ideas that helped me shape the aesthetic of our day. Our wedding decoration was an elegant blend of romance and Greek aesthetics, inspired by the natural beauty of the Mediterranean and the timeless elegance of a destination wedding in Greece. We wanted our day to feel full of light, romance and authenticity, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all our guests». Every detail tells its own story, and we cannot wait to share each beautiful moment of this unforgettable day with you!

«We met in Greece one summer, through mutual friends who were visiting my parents’ seaside house. He had come from Canada for vacation and from the very first moment there was such a beautiful connection between us. In fact, after just our first day together, he told his friends, «she’s the one». Even though he only had a few days left before returning to Canada, he found the courage to ask me out on a date. When he left, we didn’t know what the future would bring, but we kept talking every single day on FaceTime, despite the nearly 8,000 kilometers between us. A few months later, he surprised me by traveling almost 24 hours with three flights just to come to Greece for my birthday, a surprise that made me laugh because I never liked surprises! We spent three wonderful weeks together, and that’s when we felt even more sure that we wanted to be together. Not long after, I traveled to Canada to see him, met his family and friends and instantly felt at home. In the end, I made the big decision. I returned to Greece, quit my job and one month later I moved to Canada so we could start our life together. We met in August 2023, and in April 2024 I moved to Toronto.»

«The marriage proposal happened a few months later, in November 2024, during a trip he had planned for my birthday in Portugal. He told me he had arranged for a photographer so we could take some beautiful photos together. One afternoon we found ourselves at the most magical spot near Porto, at the little chapel of Capela do Senhor da Pedra, built right on the rocks beside the Atlantic. There, with the sunset in the background and the sound of the sea all around us, he surprised me in the most beautiful way and asked me to marry him. It was a truly magical moment, in a place that felt like it had come straight out of a dream.»

There were so many special moments, but the most magical one for us was the first time we saw each other at the church. The whole morning had been filled with stress and so many people, but in that moment it felt like no one else existed. It was just the two of us and our love.

«My bridal bouquet was made of white roses, a timeless and elegant choice that symbolizes love and purity. The roses were combined with delicate touches of olive leaves, adding a natural Mediterranean feel while honoring Greek tradition. The same elements were reflected in the church decoration, creating a beautiful sense of harmony throughout the setting.»

«In the ceremony space, lush floral arrangements in soft white tones framed the ceremony, while amphorae and traditional clay pots were placed subtly around, adding a sense of Mediterranean refinement and understated luxury. The white flowers combined with olive leaves created a setting full of romance and natural elegance. Guests could enjoy refreshing drinks from the refreshment station before the ceremony, while the bridesmaids and groomsmen, with their elegant presence, completed the atmosphere of the day. As our wedding included guests from all over the world, with different cultural and religious backgrounds, we wanted everyone to be able to understand and truly experience the beauty of the Orthodox ceremony. For this reason, we prepared a small booklet for our guests, explaining the main symbolism and stages of an Orthodox wedding, so they could follow the ceremony and understand its deeper meaning.»

«My wedding dress was from Pallas Wedding Dress, designed by Dany Tabet and it was custom made. From the very first moment, I felt it was exactly what I had dreamed of, a truly stunning dress. It was a romantic yet modern fit and flare, mermaid style gown that hugged the body in such an elegant way. It featured a sweetheart neckline that beautifully highlighted the bust, while the fitted waist and its striking train created a very feminine and elegant silhouette. What made it truly special were the three dimensional floral details, the tiny hand sewn flowers, combined with subtle beaded embroidery and layers of tulle. Its shades, ivory over a white base, gave a very romantic and almost luminous effect, especially in the light. The lace adorned train added even more elegance and movement, while the overall aesthetic of the dress balanced perfectly between romantic, modern and sensual.»

«The most important advice I would give to a bride planning her wedding now is to stay true to what she and her partner truly want, without being overly influenced by trends or other people’s opinions. A wedding is such a personal moment and it deserves to reflect your own story and aesthetic. I would also tell her to enjoy the planning process as much as she can. Yes, it can feel stressful at times, but it is also a unique period that she will not experience again. Some small details may not turn out exactly as imagined and that is completely okay. On the wedding day, try to let go of control and live every moment. Be present, enjoy your people and create memories. In the end, what stays with you is not perfection, but the feelings and the moments you shared with your loved ones.»

«A key role in creating this atmosphere was played by the Aesthetic Soiree team, who took care of both the decoration and the planning of the day. With professionalism, creativity, and great attention to detail, they helped us bring our vision to life and create a wedding that exceeded all our expectations. They were truly wonderful and contributed so much to making our day so beautiful and special. The wedding favors also had a distinct Greek character. Instead of the classic sugared almonds, we chose to offer our guests traditional loukoumi, a small but sweet touch of Greek tradition that honored our roots and gave everyone a genuine taste of Greece.»
