«I first met my wife in a pub near my home, a place I occasionally visit. Oksana came in with her friends and, at first, didn’t even notice me, though I had come by just to say hi. Over the next month, I saw her friends more often and started spending time with them. Naturally, through them, I got to know her better and slowly, she started talking to me as well. We were just friends until one evening, after everyone else had gone home, she mentioned wanting to go for a walk. I offered to accompany her and we walked together. That night, walking her home, something changed between us. From that evening on, we’ve been together.»

«I proposed her one morning at a hotel by the Red Sea, where we had gone on vacation. Originally, I had thought about proposing on the very same day we first got together – silly, I know – but I didn’t want it to memorize yet another day in the calendar. That day, however, wasn’t right. Our friends unintentionally messed things up – not badly, but it just wasn’t the moment. Another day came, then another, nothing felt perfect. Then, that morning, I decided that no matter what, now was the right time. She woke up and I read her a verse I had written especially for her and she said yes. Since then, we’ve kept celebrating the day we met, the day I proposed her and of course, now, our wedding day.»

The advice I would give to a bride who is now planning her wedding is to preparing well in advance. We had only two weeks to get everything ready and it was quite difficult. In the end, everything turned out perfect – well, almost but the whole experience took a lot out of us. Still, looking back, all the effort and emotions we poured into those days only made the moment even more meaningful.
