Set against the sparkling Athenian coastline, Nora and Ryan’s destination wedding in Greece is the kind of celebration that instantly transports you into a world of romance, beauty and unforgettable moments. Their love story begins with a surprise proposal in Santorini, where Ryan secretly planned an entire getaway before leading Nora to a private sea view setting adorned with rose petals, flowers and champagne, creating a memory they would cherish forever as the sun dipped into the horizon. For their wedding day at the Island Art and Taste, the couple envisioned a refined yet vibrant celebration and entrusted Bright Blue Wedding Events to bring every detail to life. Overlooking the endless blue sea, two breathtaking floral pillars overflowing with roses, hydrangeas, lisianthus and lush green foliage in shades of pink, ivory, lilac and white framed the ceremony in the most spectacular way, while the reception featured a stunning imperial table lined with white chairs accented by gold details, lavish floral arrangements cascading at its base and crystal chandeliers suspended above for a truly enchanting effect. Inspired by ideas she discovered on Chic and Stylish Weddings, the bride shares, «I wanted to have a colourful but still elegant wedding. I chose pink roses for my bridal bouquet because white roses were too boring. I especially loved the table decoration where different flowers were at the leg of the table. I wanted to keep the flowers at the leg so they wouldn’t distract the guests speaking to each other across the table and chose candles to go on top of the dinner tables instead and I am very happy with that choice and the photos looked amazing with so many candles. I loved the wedding arch as well as it had a wild garden feel to it.» Every image from this beautiful celebration captures the joy of the day and the incredible attention to detail, and we cannot wait for you to discover all the lovely moments that followed.

«We met in University. Our university had a college system so each student would be part of a different college (a bit like the Gryffindor, Slytherin houses in Harry Potter). Ryan was working at the bar of his college as a student bar tender and my friends who were from his college wanted to go there for celebrating their graduation. When I went to order at the bar I was struck by his green eyes and the beautiful face he had so I couldn’t stop ordering drinks just so I could chat to him and he was flirting with me too. I learned 5 facts about him that night and then when I came home I googled those 5 facts so his LinkedIn profile popped up and I clicked on it, 5 minutes later I received a Facebook invitation from him because at the exact time as me he was also searching for me. We started chatting on Facebook and 3 days later he asked me out to dinner, on the fifth day we had our first date and have been together ever since (now more than 11 years). »

«He proposed me when we were in Santorini. I suspected he might do that because normally I plan all the travel and accommodation and activities but on that occasion he planned everything before I even got around to it. So I bought a lot of white dresses before we left for every day we would be there just so I wouldn’t be caught off guard not looking my best if he proposed at some point. When we got to Santorini, he was always talking about “Monday” (e.g. “oh it might rain whilst we are here but Monday seems fine”) so I suspected he was planning the proposal on Monday . On the morning of the proposal he took me on a boat tour around Santorini, then when we returned to the hotel in the afternoon he told me he has a surprise for me and asked me to dress up. I could sense he was very anxious. I got dressed up and he took me to an igloo shaped pod on top of a hill in Santorini that had the sea view to watch the sunset together by ourselves. The entrance to the pod had rose petals on the floor and a bottle of champagne and flowers on the table inside. There was also a sofa inside facing the sunset. I tried to play it cool so I didn’t react and sat down on the sofa. He then told me to get up and said he had something important to tell me. He started talking about how his life has changed since he met me and he could not imagine being without me, his eyes teared up and so did mine. He went down one knee and opened the ring box and asked me to marry him, because the bottom half of my eyes were filled with tears I couldn’t even see the ring when he went down on one knee. I said yes and the rest is history.»

«I visited the Chic and Stylish Weddings site to come up with ideas for the decorations.»

«I had 3 dresses but my ceremony dress was from Milla Nova. I wanted a simple timeless dress so 30 years from now when I look at the photos I would still feel like the dress looked great.»

The advice I would give to a bride who is now planning her wedding is to delegate as much of the planning as you can afford and don’t let the groom just be the person that leaves all decisions to you. It is meant to be your day and you are spending so much money on it, you deserve to enjoy it and not it become a stressful event.

«My favorite moment from my wedding was the after party when my husband and I wore bellydancing shawls and were dancing with each other.»
