Earthy shades of sage, beige and brown, white roses, lisianthus and lush olive branches are just a few of the details we love from Gemma and Ryan’s rustic destination weddingin Rhodes, thoughtfully planned by Lythos! The couple first met at work, but it was at a retirement party that they truly connected, and five years later Ryan proposed during a romantic getaway in the South Downs. While searching for wedding venues abroad, they unexpectedly came across an article on Chic and Stylish Weddings and discovered Lythos, a venue that brought together the natural beauty of the Aegean, Cycladic architecture and the personal hospitality of a family-run business with years of experience. Hoping to escape the unpredictable British weather and celebrate in a Mediterranean setting, they loved being able to explore different destinations and wedding styles through the website. Maria and her team at Lythos also introduced them to a trusted group of vendors, making the planning process much simpler and taking away much of the stress and decision-making. «We wanted elegant but slightly rustic wedding decorations, that would match the venue well. The Lythos had lots of plants, natural wood and exposed stonework…., the bride shared with us.» For the ceremony, a simple wooden arch was dressed with flowing white fabrics, white flowers and rich greenery, while arrangements of olive branches and woven baskets lined the aisle. At the reception, ceramic vases filled with white flowers, eucalyptus and touches of greenery decorated the tables and each guest received a ceramic ornament in earthy tones, finished with a ribbon. With breathtaking views, thoughtful styling and every detail carefully coordinated by Lythos, Gemma and Ryan’s summer wedding feels beautifully connected to its Cycladic surroundings!

«We met at work, sitting in the same office for nearly a year not interacting much, until we we really met as the only people in their 20s at a retirement party! Ryan proposed me on our 5 year anniversary. We were on a romantic weekend away in the South Downs national park (UK) and Ryan had planned a walk on one of the downs to a viewpoint where he had planned to propose. Apparently he didn’t like the view as he didn’t propose there and we headed back down, but he proposed at a different viewpoint he’d spotted on the way up!»

«We wanted elegant but slightly rustic wedding decorations, that would match the venue well. The Lythos venue had lots of plants, natural wood and exposed stonework. We matched the vibe with earthy tones, like sage, beige and brown napkins, table cloths and runners, wicker placemats, terracotta vases and candles. The wedding colour was sage and the bouquets and altar flowers included eucalyptus varieties, pampas grass and white roses and gypsophila for some brightness and elegance. The table flowers matched these. We absolutely loved the venue and it almost needed no decorations at all to be wedding-ready. The mosaic style floor with the terracotta pots on the tables felt like we didn’t deviate from that Greek-Mediterranean atmosphere that we were looking for. The venue Lythos also has huge blooms of bougainvillea provided amazing bursts of pinks and reds against the earth tones and as plant lovers we couldn’t have asked for more.»

«We found our venue by randomly stumbling across a Chic and Stylish Weddings article when searching for wedding venues. We knew we wanted a destination wedding for various reasons, including escaping the unpredictable British weather and for the Mediterranean atmosphere and your website allowed us to view a range of different wedding locations and styles in many different countries. Our wedding venue and organiser Maria from Lythos works with a set of established and trusted vendors for us to choose from, so we didn’t need to search elsewhere and this massively simplified things for us and removed a lot of potential stress and decision making.»

Μy favorite moment from my wedding was seeing Ryan to cry at the altar after seeing me in the wedding dress! And Ryan’s favorite moment was seeing me walking down the aisle, finally seeing the wedding dress after so much anticipation and trying to keep it together so I wasn’t crying in too many photos.

«The advice I would give to a bride who is now planning her wedding is that if you have a great wedding planner like we did, trust them to know what will make your wedding and the venue look great! This saved us a lot of stress, but most importantly had amazing results as the photos show! The advice from Ryan to grooms that should be helping plan as well: It’s also your wedding day, so get involved, show that you care and help out!»

«My wedding dress was a Wilderly brides dress by Allure Bridals, in buff, champagne, ivory and nude. It was A-line with a soft tulle skirt, a lace bodice and straps and custom-added sequins to catch the sun and add some sparkle. It had a train and a bustle so I could get it out of the way for dancing later! It was very light, which was necessary in the Greek summer and it complimented the wedding perfectly. I felt amazing in it. I bought it from ‘Brides by Solo’ in Newmarket, UK.»
