Some weddings feel like they unfold in their own little world and Monika and Nicolas’ summer celebration in Chania Crete had that kind of charm from the very beginning. With Andreas Markakis Photography guiding both the storytelling and Crete for Love the planning, the day came together in a romantic palette of dusty blue and deep blue tones, shaped beautifully by clusters of hydrangeas that appeared throughout the setting. Long wooden tables were dressed with textured glassware, soft linens and abundant blue blooms, while chandeliers hung overhead, catching the late afternoon light as guests found their seats. The choice of Crete held its own meaning too: Nicolas proposed on holiday on the island at the very place where he had lived for three months during an internship, making this destination wedding in Crete feel even more personal. «We enjoyed every moment with our family and friends in the beautiful scenery of our wedding venue. It is hard to pick a favorite moment but if we have to, it would be the speeches of our best men and woman which were heartwarming…», the bride shared with us. From the floral-draped sweetheart chairs to the elegant mix of blues scattered across each table, every detail worked together with the landscape rather than competing with it. In the end, the celebration unfolded like a quiet summer story, one shaped by heartfelt speeches, familiar landscapes and a color palette that echoed the island itself.

«We met as young adolescents in a local church in Ghent (Belgium). We entred adulthood as friends but as we started dancing class together, our friendship evolved into something more. After a blossoming relationship of 10 years, Nicolas proposed me on holiday in Heraklion, the place where he had stayed for 3 months during an internship and fell in love with. «We visited the site Chic and Stylish Weddings. When we made the decision to organize a destination wedding, we took our time to brainstorm on what we wanted for our wedding. Other than the website of our wedding planner, Anna Laudanska from Crete For Love, we used the site of Chic and Stylish Weddings to come up with inspiration for our special day.»

«My wedding dress was a piece from Jarice, a Belgian designer. It wasn’t the kind of dress that I dreamed of but when I put it on I immediately felt a connection. It was a light weighted, comfortable but form fitting and elegant dress that perfectly matched the vibe of the wedding. I loved the romantic style of the dress with a long veil and a little sparkle. It made me feel beautiful and empowered.»

«The advice I would give to a bride who is now planning her wedding is to take her time to gather as much inspiration as possible and let an experienced wedding planner guide you through this process, but always keep in mind what you really desire.»

«For our wedding decoration we made the deliberate choice of keeping the floral arrangements rather simple for the ceremony in the church and work with a few eye catchers for the wedding venue. We really loved the elegant chandeliers wrapped in blue and white flowers behind our newlywed table and the accompanying centre pieces in the middle of each guest table. Another highlight was the dance floor wrapped with fairy lights which created a magical atmosphere.»
