When Christakis arrived in Athens from Constantinople in 1934 he dedicated himself to the art of shirtmaking. Christakis’ relentless attention to quality was so apparent that his handmade shirts gained the trust of the most significant personalities of the time. As the decades went by, his fame grew out of the borders and he was considered an expert on sartorial menswear. Choosing strictly the best fabrics from Switzerland’s top mills and sewing them with dexterity Christakis managed to be the “most well-known shirtmaker in Athens.Almost seven decades later, our house, Christakis stands on 5 Kriezotou Street in the building where our famous workshop still produces all shirts in the same handmade manner. Another location is added in Kifisia, where on No.9 of Kolokotroni street Christakis artisanal products become available.
Now run by Christakis’ daughter, Vicky and his grandsons Antonis and Christos Nyflis, the brand retains the values that distinguished it. Been trained as shirt cutters themselves, along with their uncle, Master Shirt Cutter Nikos Fotakis, their constant aim is to make people embrace their sartorial heritage.
