The rustic glam wedding of Lia and Dimitris took place in Monemvasia, a wedding destination that combines romance and history. It was a favorable place for the couple since they wanted to integrate the sea into in their wedding concept because the groom is a professional sailor.
The bride got prepared for her special day in a suite of the Lazareto hotel, where each room has its own character and special history.
The bridal robe with the word “Bride” on the back was a special order from Victoria Secret.
During her preparation, Lia was reminiscing special moments from her past with Dimitri as she was looking through the digital photo album that was going to be used as a wish book.
A tender moment with Dimitris’s niece, the beautiful flowergirl
The wedding dress… an amazing creation from the Konstantinos Melis by Laskos bridal collection. A wedding gown with French lace finishing and silk tulle with applied creations on the bride’s shoulders.
Dimitris proposed to Lia during the summer in Portugal, where he was stationed to service his ship. He brought Lia to a restaurant in a castle.
As Lia mentions: «Ι would have never imagined that he was planning something like “this” because I knew how limited his time was. I really don’t know when he planned everything!».
The bride’s journey begins from the castle’s entrance, through the cobble stonen arrow roads… until she reaches the church of Elkomenos Christ, at the central square. Truly a magical path.
As the bride mentions: «the most beautiful moment and the most emotional part of the day was when my brother and father escorted me to the church while local musicians played wedding songs».
Heartfelt emotions that will always be remembered.
The couple walked on a white carpet between myriads of handmade candles and mason jars lit with candles.
As the coupled headed towards the ceremony area they were surrounded by flower arrangements of English-Austin roses, alstroemerias, lysianthos and baby breath tied together with burlap and lace. The wedding candles were made from metal bases with candles and flowers at the center.
The romantic bridal bouquet had beautiful English-Austin roses.
The wedding decoration was handled beautifully by IoannaVamvakari. As a decorator, she constructed unique handmade creations like the two trees that were placed at the church entrance. The tree trunk was wrapped with ivy and it ended in a twined ball filled with myrtia leaves, baby breath and English-Austin roses.
The bride mentions: «One of the most lovely elements of the wedding decoration was the “photo laundry” that was set up in the reception entrance.
Romantic photos of the newlyweds that were taken at special parts of Monemvasia, the Castle city…where the rock images and the endless Myrtoo Sea create a fairytale scene that photographers adore.
The wedding reception was held at the Lazareto Hotel.
The bride’s advice to the other couples planning their own wedding: «there is no need to stress…even though in my case I stressed a lot since I wanted to handle everything myself! »
The reception party that followed was joyful for all the guests that attended.
After the bride “tossed” her bouquet, the couple followed the English wedding tradition with the bridal garter, entertaining friends and family.
Handmade wedding props were given to friends of the newlyweds: glasses in various sizes and colors with the couples’ names written on them, 20’s themed mustaches for the men and lips for the ladies.
The wonderful evening ended with an unforgettable wedding party, with Lia and Dimitris as the stars…The party carried on till the early hours of the next day….
