A bohemian wedding with lavender on the gorgeous island of Antiparos… It sounds like the dream wedding of every boho bride. The wedding of Elya and Konstantinos was nothing short of beautiful and perfection! A romantic outdoor affair bursting with lavender and rosemary and it all took place in the beautiful setting of their own beach house.
Elya and Konstatninos met in Antiparos, a small and quaint Greek island that is known for its crystal clear waters, hidden beach caves and picturesque shores.
«We vacationed as a family in Antiparos since 1989. There is no other place in the world that I love more, that reminds me more of my childhood… so many memories, so many people I love… with so much happiness».
“I think that the fact I met Konstantinos in Antiparos was a sign… Konstantinos was staying at the house next to mine and we met only a few days before he left the island. We were at a bar called Tzitzika, a day after my 30th birthday. At that same bar we planned our pre wedding party with all of our friends a day before our wedding. It may sound cliché but from the first time we looked at each other, it was like we knew each other for years”.
The ceremony took place at the church of Panagia Styliani and the reception was held at the bride’s house in Akakos.
This beautiful bohemian wedding had decorative details that were actually DIY projects of the bride’s friends and family. “The majority of the bohemian wedding decoration was hand made. For example, with my mother’s priceless help we made about 350 burlap placemats with lace, countless kilos of homemade strawberry jam… almost 500 small jars for the candles decorated with lace, checkered pouches with organic lavender, craft bags each one sealed with a paper doily and so much more…” Elya mentioned.
On her wedding day Elya wore a uber stylish wedding dress by MI-RO that was designed especially for an island wedding. “My wedding dress was created from scratch based on the bohemian wedding style, the location and after a whole lot of brainstorming from Dimitirs Mastrokallos, my mother and myself”.
Elya conbined beautifully the boho style wedding dress with Zali Antiparos sandals and the infinity bracelet she was wearing was a gift from her maid of honor: the symbol of infinity that concludes into two hearts.
Elya’s advice for other brides that are now planning their own wedding: “Stay calm! Your wedding day goes by so fast that brides should enjoy every single moment even during the preparation time”.
The groom’s blue wedding suit was also designed by Greek fashion designers MI-RO.
An island bohemian wedding that was truly so intimate and lovely… and with so many lavender details: The swoon worthy flower crown was made with lavender, the bridal bouquets was a gorgeous arrangement of aromatic lavender and rosemary tied together with burlap and lace… the ceremony wedding candles were decorated with lavender… All so pretty and absolutely perfect.
“I can remember two moments that were the most beautiful: the first one was when I saw my husband waiting for me and the second one was my father handed me to my husband and gave us his blessing”.
The bohemian wedding had an authentic island ambience and as the bride describes: “We wanted our island wedding in Antiparos to remain simple. The wedding decoration was based on flowers and herbs from our garden, mostly all of the fabrics that were used were linen, lace and burlap. Even the catering offered delicacies made from Greek recipes using as many local products as possible”.
“For the bohemian wedding decoration we used lavender and rosemary from our garden. Louisa Papadopoulou helped us immensely making every idea I had come true”.
“Setting sail for a lifetime of love”… the unique drift wood wedding were handmade by Sofia, a talented artist that has the cute Etsy shop Love Embellished . “The story behind the custom made wedding favors is actually very sweet… I found Sofia’s shop on Etsy when I was searching for ideas. After corresponding almost on a daily basis about the wedding favors order, we became friends. We met in person on my wedding day!”.
Aside from the bride’s love for the island of Antiparos, one of the important reasons that the couple planned their bohemian wedding on the island was the fact that Antiparos was where they met and fell in love… and that is where Konstantinos asked Elya to share their life together for ever: “He asked me to marry him on a beautiful beach. Konstantinos learned how to play our favorite song on the guitar so he can sing it to me…”
